If antacids have become your everyday staple,

Do you often experience days
when your stomach feels like this?

Indigestion isn't solely a matter of stomach acid.
When what should descend doesn't,
and the vital energy (氣) that should circulate becomes blocked, your stomach often feels perpetually full.

1

Feeling full after just half a bowl

A few spoonfuls into your meal, and your stomach feels full right up to your chest. Leaving food feels awkward, but finishing it means sitting uncomfortably for two hours. Mealtime itself has become a burden.

2

Burping multiple times a day

That 'stuck' feeling lingers constantly. Burping offers temporary relief, but it quickly returns, and by evening, your chest feels tight.

3

Antacids in your bag, in your drawer

You chew one every time your stomach burns. It definitely calms things down, but a few hours later, it's the same story. Soon, it becomes something you feel anxious without.

4

Digestion stops when stress hits

When something stressful happens, nothing seems to go down that day. It's hard to tell if it's your mind or your stomach that feels blocked.

Cheongwisam is not a food product.
It is a herbal medicine prescribed by a Korean medicine doctor after consultation.

Not suppressing, but promoting descent

Cheongwisam approaches with
three key principles

Cheongwisam approaches from three directions simultaneously.
Because addressing only one aspect will lead to the same discomfort the next day.

Circulate

Qi (氣) Circulation

Cyperus 香附子 · Costus Root 木香

This axis circulates blocked Qi. Digestion stopping when you're stressed isn't just a feeling; it's because the autonomic nervous system suppresses gastric motility. This axis directly targets the 'stuck feeling' and chest tightness.

Digest

Dissolving Accumulation

Hawthorn 山楂 · Medicated Leaven 神麴 · Malt 麥芽

This axis dissolves accumulated matter. Hawthorn addresses meat and greasy stagnation, malt handles grain stagnation, and medicated leaven, a fermented remedy, aids overall digestion. It aims to restore the speed at which food moves from the stomach to the intestines.

Warm

Warming the Middle

Dried Ginger 乾薑 · Cinnamon Bark 肉桂

This axis boosts the internal 'fire' of the stomach. If you feel more discomfort after eating cold foods and find relief with warm ones, this axis may be deficient. Instead of forcing digestion, it warms the conditions necessary for digestion to occur.

Why didn't we choose an acid-suppressing approach?

The fastest way to relieve heartburn is to neutralize stomach acid or inhibit its secretion. Indeed, it provides comfort for a few hours.

However, a constantly uncomfortable stomach with no abnormalities found in tests — feeling full after just a little food, frequent burping, and blockage when stressed — is often not due to excess stomach acid, but because things are not descending properly. That's why no matter how many antacids you take, it's the same a few hours later.

Cheongwisam addresses three directions simultaneously. It circulates blocked Qi (cyperus · costus root), dissolves accumulated matter (hawthorn · medicated leaven · malt), and warms a cold stomach (dried ginger · cinnamon bark). It's not about forcing digestion, but about restoring the conditions for digestion to occur naturally.

It's not a quick-fix for emergencies, but a remedy that transforms your everyday stomach comfort. That's why we assess its effectiveness by observing how your meals feel weeks later, not just the next day.

Evidence reported in international academic journals

The Power to Descend,
Mechanisms Confirmed by Research

We verify the functions of the herbal ingredients in Cheongwisam,
through publicly available research. Each paper also indicates
which aspect of this prescription it supports.

Herbal medicine used for functional dyspepsia showed better symptom improvement than placebo.
A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials for patients with functional dyspepsia. Significant improvements in total symptom scores and quality of life indicators were reported compared to control groups.
In Cheongwisam, — This means Cheongwisam addresses the area of ‘a constantly uncomfortable stomach with no abnormalities found in tests’. Cases where acid-suppressing medications were ineffective often fall into this category.
Ho L, et al. Efficacy of herbal medicine for functional dyspepsia: a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials. Front Pharmacol. 2021;12:648075. doi:10.3389/fphar.2021.648075
Mechanisms that actually promote gastric emptying have been confirmed.
These studies demonstrate how Yukgunja-tang-based herbal remedies influence ghrelin signals and gastric motility, thereby improving the speed at which food passes from the stomach to the intestines.
In Cheongwisam, — The essence of ‘fullness’ is often the speed of descent from the stomach. This is the target of Cheongwisam's 'dissolving accumulation' axis (hawthorn · medicated leaven · malt).
Tominaga K, Arakawa T. Kampo medicines for gastrointestinal tract disorders: a review of basic science and clinical evidence. J Gastroenterol. 2013;48(4):452–462. doi:10.1007/s00535-013-0788-z
Stress and reduced gastric motility are connected on the same axis.
Research on the brain-gut axis. It is established that stress directly affects gastric emptying and visceral hypersensitivity via the autonomic nervous system.
In Cheongwisam, — This is evidence that ‘digestion stopping when you're stressed’ isn't just in your head. It's why Cheongwisam includes not only digestive remedies but also an axis for circulating Qi (氣) (cyperus · costus root).

Ginger-based remedies promoted gastric emptying and reduced nausea.
Randomized controlled trials. In the ginger intake group, gastric emptying time was shortened, and upper abdominal discomfort · nausea decreased.
In Cheongwisam, — This is the basis for the warming axis managed by dried ginger (乾薑). It particularly targets types who feel more discomfort after eating cold foods and find relief with warm ones.
Hu ML, et al. Effect of ginger on gastric motility and symptoms of functional dyspepsia. World J Gastroenterol. 2011;17(1):105–110. doi:10.3748/wjg.v17.i1.105

These two are not competing remedies.

Antacids and Cheongwisam,
they address different layers of discomfort.

We are not discrediting the medication you are currently using.
It's simply that different problems require different solutions.

Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ

Can you tell me the full list of ingredients?

Cheongwisam contains a large number of ingredients, some of which are not publicly disclosed. However, we have clearly stated the axes it works on (Qi circulation · dissolving accumulation · warming the middle) and the representative herbs for each axis above. If you need to confirm individual ingredients before prescription, we can provide guidance during your consultation.

Can I take it with antacids?

If you are taking any stomach medications, please inform us of the medication name and duration during your consultation. The Korean medicine doctor will determine whether concurrent use is appropriate and the dosage interval. Please do not arbitrarily discontinue treatment for any gastrointestinal conditions you are currently receiving care for.

How long should I take it?

Typically, we recommend a one-month course. We adjust the strength while observing changes in meal volume, fullness, and burping frequency. Once a comfortable state is maintained, you can reduce or discontinue use.

Will it cause diarrhea?

Since it contains herbs that help descend accumulated matter, some individuals may experience easier bowel movements. However, reactions vary from person to person. If you have sensitive bowels, please inform us during your consultation, and we will adjust the formulation to reduce its descending effect.

A state where every meal is a burden cannot be your default.

From your next meal,
let comfort begin.

After confirming the timing of discomfort, differences based on food, and bowel movements via KakaoTalk,
our Korean medicine doctor will guide you on the duration and strength of consumption.
